Recently, the well-known brand PHILIPS has launched a mini 20W PD fast charger. The body is long and cylindrical, with rounded edges and corners. It has 9V2.22A and 12V1.67A voltage levels, which can meet the iPhone 12 fast charging needs. Let’s take it apart to see the internal material and design.
- Product Appearance
The packaging box has a blue and white color, with PHILIPS logo, the appearance of the charger, and three major selling points printed on the front.
Product parameter information is printed on the back with anti-counterfeiting labels.
The package contains a charger and a user manual.
The charger cover adopts a two-stage design with a matte surface and PHILIPS brand printed on the waist, the top surface is slightly convex with simple overall design.
The Charger parameters are printed on this side
The input terminal adopts foldable pins, which are convenient to carry.
The top USB-C port is near the edge with black rubber core.
The length of the charger is 48.89mm.
The width of the charger is 28.83mm.
The thickness is 33.82mm.
It is slightly higher and narrower than the Apple 22Wcharger.
This is what it looks like in the hand.
The Weight is about 50g
The ChargerLAB POWER-Z KT002 shows the USB-C port supports Apple 2.4A, Samsung 5V2A, DCP protocols, as well as QC2.0/3.0, AFC, FCP, PD3.0 fast charging protocols.
The PDO message shows the USB-C port has three sets of fixed voltage levels : 5V3A, 9V2.22A, 12V1.67A.
2.Teardown
The cover of the charger is very thick, with strong protection, and only can be open by violently cutting
The charger adopts a design of upper and lower small boards, with a plastic shell between the input and output small boards for insulation isolation.
The input terminals: fuse, common mode inductor coated insulation tube.
Fuse with 2A rated current
Dual-wire wound Common-mode inductor is used to filter out EMI interference.
There are rectifier bridge, master control chip, and optocoupler on the back of the input board.
Separate the two small boards, and the front of the input board is equipped with a capacitor and a transformer. The Y capacitor connects the two PCB boards, and the transformer's secondary output line and optocoupler are connected to the output PCB board.
The rectifier bridge uses WRABS20M from Shenzhen World Industrial Co., Ltd. This soft bridge has a softer recovery curve and smoother turn-off characteristics, which can reduce the diode junction capacitance to achieve very little harmonic oscillation.
World WRABS20M Specification
ChargerLAB found that this model of soft bridge has been used by brands such as Benks, JDB, Zikko, Zendure, Baseus, RAGAU, and Mcdodo for 20W mini charger. At the same time, the World soft bridge series products have also been used by dozens of products such as OPPO 50W biscuit GaN fast charger, Nubia 1A1C 45W GaN fast charger, Rock 65W GaN PD fast charger, and Mcdodo 2C1A 65W GaN fast charger
